PROOF SMART METERS MISREAD

I have the proof now that something is wrong with my meter.

I got my daily readings today from H1, who sent me my data on speadsheet.

Now, lets be clear. I take my readings at noon, they likely do so at midnight. But have a look at my May 18 meter reading I took at noon. 44207. Their midnight reading of that day is 44143. Less. In fact the next day was less at 44191.

How can that be? I did not screw up the reading. That is what the meter had at noon on the 18th of May.

Now it seemed to "correct" itself somewhere along the line because the next 3 days, which unfortunately I was in Toronto for 2 of them, is the same consumption as a normal day, some 54 kWh.

There is definitely a problem with the meters, at least mine.

I emailed back to H1 with this problem, will post the reply.

  1. Interesting...

On another front I have my Brultech power monitor set up and running. So far the Hydro meter and the Brultech over the first 2 days have matched. I'll post the results after a month.

  2. my rates have doubled since i have had a smart meter installed. i am trying to get my MPP to do something about this as Hydro One will not. i have even asked for a conservation team to visit. They dont visit they only talk to you over the phone... what good is that. they spend all this money promoting conservation yet even when you do and your bill goes up they do not come out to tell you why.

  3. Slowly, but ever more surely, Canada is becoming a country I do not want my kids growing up in. It's so very sad to hear myself say it.

  4. The issue that seems to be the so prevalent is that the cost per kilowatt changes according to the time of consumption. The hydro companies know that during peek hours, (business hours) that commercial businesses require the higher use and they (hydro company), gain higher profit margins by increasing the rates during these time frames. The increase in the cost of business to the general company such as restaurants or stores will have to pass that addition overhead cost on to the consumer making it even hard for Canadians to survive.

Secondly, it seems to make very little difference for a residential consumers billing when they factually reduce their usage during these "peek" hours. It has been proven time and time again, yet no one is willing to stand up for the consumer in government because the higher the bill to us, the more tax revenue they obtain.

Not only do the citizens of Ontario have to deal with this unfair practice of price fixing, but we have also been handed the responsibility for the hydro companies poor management. In any other business... if you fail to manage it properly you go accept the financial loss or go bankrupt. However the hydro company in Ontario has somehow convinced the political powers that be that it is ok to grant them the right to bill the consumer for their financial loss from mismanagement. We now also have the "Debt reduction" cost applied to our billing. I'm sorry, but I did not have any part in their decisions which produced this loss, I sure as heck am not going to be billed to repay it. I have never had any government agency tell me it is ok to my customers of my company for my misuse of funds and putting my company in peril.

It simply amazes me that the cast majority of Canadians do little to nothing about these things. As a culture the vast majority will bitch on blogs or in coffee shops about it, but do nothing more to right the injustice we have had to absorb for financial gains of corporate billionaires. You know darn well that even if "we" the people pay the loss they incurred, they will not remove the billing for it once it is paid, they will become dependent on the additional money well after the fact.

I shall start an electronic and paper petition for Ontarian and Canadians in each province to defeat the use of these "smart" meters and to have the rates per kilowatt during prime time changed, along with the removal of the debt reduction cost to us.

If you are interested in helping by signing such a petition, please leave a message here, and I shall design the online petition and prepare the paper petition during the next 5 days.

    Sincerely: Mr. J.C.

  6. Why is the McGuinty Gov't not targeting the abusive charges of delivery, etc that Hydro 1 collects. The electric consumption fees are just fine in my opinion but being charged to be a customer is bizarre. Back a few years ago when Hydro was forced (FORCED) to divulge the break down of their charges on consumers bills the truth of their being damn crooks was exposed. But nothing has ever been done about these charges. I think Hydro should be paying me to be a customer.

  8. i am losing my home due to smart meter. i am widowed with 5 children and have payed thousands into pg&e. my bills went from 100 dollars a month into the thousands a month!!!! i have propane heating no a/c no tv's,computers, stereos, pools, jaccuzzis etc. the only things used in my house that pull power are my major apliances..(stove ,fridg,washer/dryer and water heater which have all been tested. pg&e said they did an investigation when i contested my 1ooo dollar bill and cncluded it was my fault.. the extent of their investegation was.... they LOOKED AT MY BILL.. are u serious ??? that s what they call an investegation????? then my meter read the word "ERROR". when i told pg&e of of the problem with the meter, they insisted ther was NO problem. I insisted they come test my "ERROR" reading meter, and i insisted to be there for the testing. When the man showed up to test my meter ,it tested accurate. then the man(frank) imformed me there was only 36 hours on that meter... THIS METER HAD ONLY 36 HOURS ON IT??????? pg&e had come to my house, replaced the faulty meter without my knowlege, then sent someone out to test the NEW METER so they wouldnt be at fault!!!! my bill went down to 80 dollars again. my power is currenly shut off due to my bill rising up into the 1000s again and PG&E REFUSING TO COME TEST MY METER AGAIN when i CONTESTED THE BILL AGAIN. PG&E LIES TO ITS COSTOMERS AND COVERS UP "ERRORS" IN THE SMART METER!!!I cannot afford a power bill as much as my rent is, and i cannot live in a house with no power raising 5 children. PG&E IS TRUELY RUINING PEOPLES LIVES. I WORK 40+ HOURS A WEEK TRYING TO GIVE MY CHILDREN THE ThINGS THEY NEED AND PG&E HAS TAKIN IT.

  10. We just got out power restored after a month and a half not having hydro due to an outrageous bill of over $8,000. Part of that was due in part that we had to heat our home with electric heaters because our furnace was red tagged. But all along I was suspicious that these new smart meters add to your bill. Now I am going to look into this further as I do not want to see our bills go sky high again and have to endure this with our family again. As it was I was going through misery unplugging everything I could running the wash only at night and with 4 kids we had allot of laundry to do and I would have to stay up late to get 3 loads done. I never had the dryer hooked up for fear it would jack up the bill so I hung my clothes even on some days in winter. Ever since this time or use thing it has made my housework miserable and the Government does nothing about making hydro take off the debt retirement charge. It is the most ridiculous thing ever and if solar panels and other alternative energy sources were made more affordable more people would switch over to gain their independance back and pay down their own debts. If consumers united to protest there would have to be changes. As for me I think I don't mind using solar lights or switching at least to the lowest LED lighting possible. The less of my hard earned cash I give them the better. Hydro one never even cared when my Father committed suicide and left a bill behind that my Mother did not know at their cottage. At the time I was living with our 2 small children and we agreed to pay it back had to get a loan. Once it was paid they then said that they needed a security deposit too and did not care about the dire circomstances we were in. My father paid his bills for 25 years to them at that property and just had recently come into financial trouble but they did not care at all. I hate hydro and the sooner we get more self reliant the better. Things are only getting worse out there with the economy who knows we may even have to go back to using magazines again in the Loo!! Someone has to put a stop to their greed!!
